Academic Books is Denmark's largest academic bookshop and a leading supplier of books for the business world. For more than 40 years we have sold and published books and it is therefore no understatement to say that our knowledge of books is extensive. We employ people who have a natural interest in books and who are keen to keep themselves updated on book news in Denmark and abroad.
Our customers are primarily students, teachers and business people. We work professionally with the staff and teachers at most of the higher education centres in Denmark. This close relationship ensures that we are the largest provider of syllabus literature at a very reasonable price called 'Study Price'. Furthermore we have a yearlong cooperation going on with the largest publishers in the world and therefore we are also one of the main suppliers of business books.

Ownership
SL fonden is a foundation/non profit organisation. The profit the organisation does not use for consolidation is therefore channelled back to students through price reductions, improved service in the stores and to support student social purposes. You can apply SL fonden at academicbooks.dk.
The company was founded in 1967 by students at the Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and was then called Samfundslitteratur. The organisation has from the outset had a clear focus on its primary customers, the students. Through the years we have developed this focus, strengthened our professional skills and expanded our presence at several higher education centres.
History
Under the name Samfundslitteratur SL fonden opened its first shop at CBS in 1967. Throughout the years we have expanded with more shops and five publishing houses. In 1991 we moved our first shop from Rosenørns Allé to the location at CBS and opened the shop at RUC. In 2004 we took over the bookshop at the former Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, in 2009 we took over the four shops of the Academic Bookstore at the Copenhagen University and in 2010 we added the Atheneum bookshop to our chain of shops.
SL fonden operates today a total of eight stores and serves a wide range of studies and higher education in Denmark. Our professional breadth is extensive and spans the social sciences, IT, humanities, education, science and medicine.
In 1999 we opened our online bookstore. At academicbooks.dk you can choose among more than 3 million titles, close to 100.000 e-titles and find syllabus lists for most of the studies we serve.
E-commerce
I 1999 åbnede vi vores internetboghandel. På academicbooks.dk kan du vælge mellem flere millioner titler og finde pensumlister til alle studieretninger. I 2010 begyndte Academic Books også at sælge e-bøger.
Publishers
SL Fund also operates a variety of academic publishers. The flagship is Samfundslitteratur with a focus on the good academic textbook. To famllien also includes Roskilde University Press Biofolia (science) News from Samfundsvidenskaberne and CBS Press.
