THE SPUR TO FREEDOM

Giles Fletcher is a student at Oxford University whose studies are brought to a sudden halt when family money runs out. It is 1936 and rampant unemployment makes job finding daunting. Though he has never considered working overseas, when offered a job in Hongkong, he accepts. Three years later, World War II starts. Initially, Hong Kong is not much affected. But when, in 1941, the Japanese invade Hongkong, Giles, with 4 of his expatriate colleagues manage to escape and start their fight against the invaders. This is their story.
