Produktbeskrivelse

This book is an all-encompassing and relevant to policy evaluation of how global south countries can be successful in promoting green transportation and logistics while at the same time pursuing their economic development and social inclusiveness. The promotion of economic development through growth and trade as well as the creation of jobs and housing in cities throughout the world will depend heavily upon the continued development of transport and logistics systems. However, it has been determined that these systems are among the largest and fastest-growing contributors to greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions; air pollution; and the depletion of resources. This book identifies the structural; institutional; technological; and financial barriers that impede the transition to lower-carbon-based transportation systems in Africa; Asia; and Latin America. This book uses both theoretical frameworks regarding sustainability transitions; empirical data; policy analysis; and comparative case studies to assess possible pathways to achieve clean mobility; resilient infrastructure; and efficient logistics systems. Key topics include governance and political economy; digitalization; circular economy practices; climate finance; and adaptive strategies for managing the risks associated with transitioning from one system to another. Through emphasis on the development of context-specific solutions and the potential for “leap-frogging” over development paths that are dependent upon high levels of GHG emissions, this book provides actionable information and knowledge for policymakers; planners; researchers; and practitioners who are engaged in the development of sustainable transportation; logistics; and development planning in the Global South.
