Shipping and delivery

This is our general information and terms regarding shipping and delivery.

If you have questions about delivery options or the delivery information for a specific product, please feel free to contact Customer Services, before you complete your order online.

Please note: It is only possible to order for delivery within Denmark when shopping online. Any request regarding shipment to addresses abroad should be directed at our Costumer Services.


Expected time of delivery

When you order books from academicbooks.dk, expect the following estimated delivery dates:

  • 1-4 working days for books in stock
  • 2-5 working days for books that must be ordered from Danish publishers
  • 10 working days for books that must be ordered from foreign publishers

 

Please remember to check the stock and delivery information for the specific product, before you place your order. You can use the links “Check if it is in stock”/ “Show expected date of delivery” available from the product page and your shopping cart to see if a book is in stock in one of our bookstores, and other special conditions about the product’s availability.

Please also note, that the estimated delivery dates are counted in working days (that is excl. weekends and public holidays).

If a book is not yet published the estimated time of delivery is calculated from the publication date.

Partial deliveries
When you order products for delivery we will usually attempt to ship all products on an order as one package. This means that it is the latest expected delivery date for a product on your order that applies for the entire order. If we are unable to ship all products together, we will dispatch them as partial deliveries without additional costs for you. In case our suppliers delay the delivery of your books with additional 3-4 working days from our estimated delivery dates, we cover the shipping costs.

Pick Up within Denmark
You choose whether you would like the book(s) sent to you or if you prefer to pick up your book(s) free of shipping in one of our bookstores. You choose your preferred delivery method when you place your order.

The cost of delivery of your purchase will follow the rates listed below (incl. 25% VAT). You can also see the cost of delivery in checkout when placing your order.

  • Pick-up in store – Price: 0 kr.

Collect your purchased books in one of our bookstores and save the cost of delivery.

  • Postens Erhvervspakker (Danish postal service for businesses) – Price: 36 kr.

Your books delivered at a company address, for example where you work – more info at post.dk.

  • Postens Privatpakker (Danish postal service for private customers) – Price: 49 kr.

Your books delivered at your home address – more info at post.dk.

  • Pakkeboksen – Price: 34 kr.

Your books delivered at a Post Danmark self-service station close by, pick up when it suits you – more info at pakkeboksen.dk.

  • SwipBox – Price: 25 kr. 

Your books delivered at a SwipBox self-service station close by, pick up when you go grocery shopping – more info at swipbox.com.

 

About Postens Erhvervspakker & Privatpakker
“Erhvervspakker” is business delivery via PostNord(The Danish Postal Service) to a company address (an address to which a CVR/ VAT number is registered), for instance your place of work. “Privatpakker” is private delivery via Post Danmark to the address of an individual person. As you can see above, different price rates apply to the two types of delivery.

For both types apply that your books are shipped as a parcel and delivered to you by Post Danmark. You can find out more about Post Danmark’s parcels at post.dk. When your order has been packed and the parcel send from our distribution partner DBK, you will receive an e-mail with a Track & Trace number (and your invoice). You can track your parcel with your number at post.dk. You will also be able to find you Track & Trace number at My page in the My orders list when you are logged in with your user profile in the webshop.

 

About Pakkeboksen and SwipBox
Pakkeboksen and SwipBox are self-service stations located either on streets or in supermarkets near you. They provide you with the option of being able to pick up your books at a location close to where you live, or go every day. This way you can avoid failed delivery attempts at times when you are not at home and also to have to make it to the postal office within their open hours. The two types of delivery mean more flexibility for you when it comes to where and when to pick up your parcel with the books purchased in the webshop. 

When you go through the checkout process you choose either "SwipBox" or "Pakkeboksen" from the list of delivery options. When you have checked one of these two options, you are able to select the specific self-service station for pick-up by entering a postal code, and there is also a map showing the locations of the different stations. 

You will be notified by sms/ e-mail from SwipBox or Pakkeboksen, when your parcel is ready to be picked up. In order to pick up your parcel at the self-service station you will need the information they supply in the sms/ e-mail. Here in the webshop you will find your SwipBox or Pakkeboksen Track & Trace-nummer at My page in the list of My orders, and in the e-mail you receive from us (with your invoice) when your order has been packed and send of. You can track your parcel on either swipbox.com or pakkeboksen.dk.

Parcels that are delivered to a SwipBox are picked up from our distribution partner DBK by TNT Express, who transports the parcel on behalf of SwipBox to the pick-up location you have selected. Parcels that are delivered to Pakkeboksen are transported by Post Danmark. 

 

Delivery of e-books and gift certificates
E-books are delivered as a link from where you can download the book you have purchased, without additional costs. The download link will be available from My page in the list of My purchases. It should take a maximum of 10 minutes before the download link is available. Should you not receive the link immediately after your order process is completed, please contact Customer Services so we can check if an error has occurred. 

Gift certificates are sent to you in an ordinary letter with Post Danmark without shipping costs. Please note that gift certificates always are sent separately. Should you have purchased books with the same order, you will receive the gift certificate and the books in separate shipments. 

 
International shipment
It is currently not possible to place an online order for shipment to an address outside of Denmark. If you would like to purchase books and delivered them to an address abroad, please send an e-mail to Customer Services at academicbooks@academicbooks.dk, who can handle your request manually. Feel free to contact Customer Services for more information.

Please note: From 15 June 2015, we charge an administration fee DKK 40 (excl. VAT) for orders sent abroad. All individuals living in the EU are subject to pay VAT on goods and administrative fees. 

Shipping costs are calculated according to Post Danmark's current rates for packages and the cost depends on the weight of the total order.  

Please note: For deliveries outside the EU, the recipient's national customs service may charge duty and add local VAT to the order. Academic Books is not responsible for national customs service duty or local VAT. Sometimes the customs service charges the amount from the carrier, who then charges the amount from the recipient of the order. Please also read our Terms and Conditions.
